I think that the reason why Firestar felt pain in different ways when he got his lives, was because that each cats live that he got was telling that cat's life story. For example, a cat who had lived his life happily but had a painful death, the life that you received from him would feel ok, until the end when it would end in a painful blast or something, which would represent his death.
Do you guys agree?

I think that it has alot to do with the intensity of the quality that the Starclanners give. Like a queen would be very protective of her kits and thus firestar would feel that intensity in recieving that life.
